IBC Important Changes to Outpatient Lab; LabCorp replaces Quest as Participating Provider
April 11, 2014
Effective July 1, 2014 IBC will name LabCorp, as its exclusive, nationally-based provider of laboratory services. This change will be effective for all Personal Choice PPO members and Keystone Health Plan East members in the Philadelphia and surrounding counties. This change will not affect those who participate under the Blue Card PPO program outside the local Philadelphia area.
What this means for you is that if you currently use Quest Diagnostics for your lab work, you will need to switch to LabCorp or face higher fees for your services. As of July 1, Quest will be considered an out-of-network provider and members who choose to use them will face higher out of pocket fees.
HMO members will continue to be required to use their PCP's capitated laboratory for coverage. Primary care physicians who have selected Quest as their capitated laboratory provider will change their selection to LabCorp or another capitated lab provider. For a list of regional lab providers that IBC will still contract with visit, http://media.whatcounts.com/ibc_mktgcomm/PDFS/otherparticipatinglabs.pdf
In an effort to make this a smooth transition, LabCorp will be opening many new locations in the area as well as adding courier service to participating doctors’ offices.
IBC will also be providing informational materials and communications to doctors and members alike. To search for a LabCorp location near you, visit www.labcorp.com.
