The Horizon Foundation in New Jersey has recently created a new program called BEAM. BEAM stands for Breathe Easiser with Asthma Management and is being implemented throughout the state with the help of the Boys and Girls Clubs of New Jersey. Asthma affects an estimated 300,000 youth in New Jersey alone and does not have a cure.
The new BEAM program is targeting five areas to help children and their families deal with asthma more effectively.
Trained staff at several Boys and Girls Clubs locations are working with approximately 2,500 children ages 5-18 who have asthma. Helping these children better manage their condition can lead to fewer hospital visits and a healthier day to day life.
