Are You Prepared? September is National Preparedness Month
September 10, 2015
September is National Preparedness Month. During this time, residents, businesses and communities are encouraged to make sure they are prepared should a disaster or emergency occur. The Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA) offers the steps below as ways to get yourself prepared:
1. Be informed about emergencies that could happen in your community, and identify sources of information in your community that will be helpful before, during and after an emergency.
2. Make a plan for what to do in an emergency.
3. Build an emergency supply kit.
4. Get involved.
FEMA and the America's PrepareAThon initiative encourage local citizens and organizations to have practice drills, events and discussions to prepare for a disaster or emergency. If you wish to take part in the National Day of Action on September 30th, visit http://www.community.fema.gov/about to sign up and get involved.
