UHC Virtual Visits – A New Way to See Your Doctor?
December 30, 2015
UnitedHealthCare is working to advance healthcare and keep up with the changing technology of today. Websites, apps, and chat programs are used every day in our lives, and are now becoming more prevalent in the healthcare world. More and more doctors are providing virtual visits as an option for diagnosing and prescribing treatment for minor medical needs. UHC is working to include coverage for virtual visits in many plans starting in 2016.
Virtual visits can save time and money for patients. A typical virtual visit costs around $40 versus an in office doctor visit at $80 or a an emergency room visit at $650. Patients would pay a portion of a virtual visit subject to copays and deductibles depending on your plan.
Stay tuned from your employer for more information on if virtual visits are covered under your specific plan during your 2016 open enrollment.
